Installed in St. Cyprien for the past 30 years, the company,
Constructions Navales MARTINEZ, is a family-run
affair created in 1973 by Jean MARTINEZ,
a shipwright, with, at his side, his sons, ANGE and
Dominique MARTINEZ, and his son-in-law, Serge
RADONDE, who manages the company today.
The company's visionary spirit led it to focus on the construction
of polyester boats since it was first created. Polyester became
its speciality.
A fixture on the St. Cyprien landscape for many years, the
company benefits from a reassuring and reliable image in the
eyes of both local institutions (ocean affairs, customs, SNSM,
etc.) and those of its major clientele: professional fishermen
who have confidence in MARITINEZ know-how.
Know-how
Today, in 2003, MARTINEZ employs 82 people, including ten
management technicians.
The shipyard has 2,400 m2 of sheds over a height of 12 metres
and can count 51 vessels and boat extensions of 10 to 42 metres
for France and abroad, to its credit.
In 2001, the company reached a new level, orders came pouring
in, its annual turnover increased by more than 30%, its staff
doubled and a second building was built that doubled its production
area.
In 2004, the company will have a production area of 4,800
m and will be able to produce four vessels per year (as opposed
to two today) with about 100 employees. The new building that
should be completed by the end of 2004 will have a façade
directly on the sea and will make it easier to launch boats
exceeding 250 tonnes and 45 metres in length.
Products
Constructions Navales MARTINEZ makes four types of products:
- Tuna boats
- Trawlers
- Passenger carriage vessels
- Pleasure boats
MARTINEZ has built trawlers, night-fishing boats (lamparo)
and tuna boats ranging from 16 to 25 metres since it was first
created.
MARTINEZ's production is particularly oriented towards big
boats.
Since the size of polyester boats is constantly growing thanks
to new techniques, the aim is to build vessels of up to 50
or 60 metres in length.
The MARTINEZ shipyard has much to offer:
- Its expertise and knowledge in techniques concerning composite
materials (weight gain, practically no maintenance, ease
with which the boat can be modified or repaired).
- The prefabrication of many elements that require a great
deal of precision, a high degree of adaptation and total
control of manufacturing schedules.
- Thanks to construction without moulds, vessels can be
adapted to the needs of each customer for the manufacturing
of hulls and boat fittings.
- MARTINEZ is always in the forefront of new technical solutions
at every level: composite materials, hull shapes (dome on
bow), crew comfort (air-conditioning, soundproofing).
- MARTINEZ boats are the most cost-effective on the French
market: their weight/power ratio is considerably above the
average. They are more comfortable and better equipped.
- A direct presence in the Mediterranean with a very strong
fishing potential
